One of the most frequently asked about subjects in Creation Science concerns Carbon 14 dating, and this process comes under the general classification of radioactive or radiometric dating methods. Other radiometric processes include uranium-lead, potassium-argon, strontium-rubidium, thorium-lead, and others. All of these methods measure the decay of a radioactive element into the daughter product (next to the radioactive isotope on the atomic scale) and most important of all require long periods of time to decay. All processes for attempting to measure the age of the universe (and there are hundreds) can be considered as natural time clocks, and almost never does the media tell of any time clocks that give young ages for creation.
Evolutionists did not derive their concepts of an ancient universe of millions and billions of years from these radiometric dating methods, but have used the radiometric methods to try to prove the universe to be of great age. There are numerous time clocks that show the creation to be quite young (less than 10,000 years old) e.g. the amount of ocean sediment, the shrinking diameter of the sun, the slowing speed of the rotation of the earth, the decay of the magnetic field of the earth, the erosion of the edge of Niagra Falls, the building of the Mississippi River delta, etc.
Did you ever stop to think that it only takes one proof of something being young to disprove that it is old. For example, suppose you were diving on an old shipwreck that you hoped was a Spanish galleon treasure ship and you knew the ship had sunk in this general area in 1622. You find a small clay jar of coins and open it and all the coins are dated 1850; then you find the ships bell, and it is dated 1851. You are having an exciting adventure, but you knew you did not have the Spanish gallion with the first coin.
Dr. Kent E. Hovind of Pensacola is a well known creation scientist and has a concise discussion of Carbon 14 measurement in his seminar notebook, which he does not copyright and urges anyone to print excerpts from it. His address appears on the reprint and he will be happy to send you a booklist of his creation science material. Pay particular attention to the assumptions that must be made and remember these apply to any of the radiometric dating methods.
If the universe is millions of years old then the Bible is false. Without the millions and billions of years, the evolutionary theory collapses. There are only two options for origins, Biblical Creation or atheistic evolution. "Choose you this day whom Ye will serve;" Joshua 24:15.
Remember the purpose of these Creation Science messages is to strengthen your faith, remove evolutionary thinking from the church, and restore the authority of the word of God.
