1. INTRODUCTION
In 1990 just before I retired from the practice of medicine, I became intensely interested in a Christian ministry called Creation Science. In a short period of time my wife Mary also became interested in the ministry and we tried to learn more and more about it because of the joy and happiness we received from the study. It opened the Bible to us in a different way. This ministry is unique in that it was started and continues to be operated by scientists. Mary and I felt the Christian church desperately needs the message and in as clear and condensed a form as possible. The ministry is only about thirty years old, and if a definition were possible, I would describe it as the application of science by scientists who are Christians to the Bible and Christianity. The underlying message of the ministry is that the whole Bible is literally true.
To introduce the ministry, we began to prepare short messages on paper and give them to our Sunday school class each week. We found people would read a short message, and then maybe at a later time read another short message, instead of asking them to read an entire book that we might recommend. We had very little success in getting others interested by giving them books to read. After Mary’s death in April 2000 I have continued to write and collect short messages and distribute them. After people are aroused, they are receptive to books. Hopefully, you will become interested in this ministry also, and find the Bible opened to you in a new and exciting way. The message is ridiculously simple. It only proclaims the whole Bible is true. Our prayer is the Holy Spirit will reveal this to you. Simple logic does not seem to convince the average Christian.
In time we found the acceptance of the message in this ministry requires the reader to let his or her mind be open to the message. Try to listen to the message and not take the attitude that the message is critical in any way to your present understanding of the Gospel. It is not criticism of you or past church leadership. All creation scientists have had to have the Holy Spirit reveal the truth that the Bible is literally accurate and totally logical as written. Repeatedly creation scientists will admit they had to repent for past blind acceptance of compromising of the scripture.
As you read these little messages, I ask you to constantly remember the creation versus evolution controversy is not just about creation and evolution, but is ultimately about the authority of the whole word of God. If the Bible contains both truth and error it is useless, because fallible man would have to determine what is truth and what is error. Also, as you read these little messages, try to remember they are coming from scientists that are Christians and believe the Bible is literally true history.
Another very important point is to try to understand that for the past 150 years since Darwinism invaded the Church, the Church has gradually abandoned the presentation of the Gospel as both logical and emotional, and instead has presented primarily an emotional Gospel. This is actually another Gospel, and far less effective in evangelism. The goal in teaching Creation Science is to have the Church return to a logical as well as an emotional presentation of the Gospel. This is based on showing the Bible can be accepted as historically accurate and true and believable in every detail. Remember if the Bible is not totally accurate and true, we with our fallen and limited minds must decide what is true and what is false. If Genesis is not true, why should John 3:16 become true?
