Remember, many Christians since the time of Darwin have believed the propaganda that evolution has been proven scientifically. These well meaning Christians have sought to compromise scripture in various ways in order to squeeze the millions and billions of imaginary years into the Bible account of history. Without the millions and billions of years, the evolutionary theory collapses.
God, being omnipotent (all powerful) could have created the universe in six trillion years, or in six million years, or in six thousand years, or in six seconds, or in six tenths of a second, or in no time at all, because He created time, and is outside of time. He clearly and repeatedly tells us in his word that he did it in six days. Don't you think his word must be easily and clearly understood on such an important matter as this so even the dumbest among us could not get it wrong?
There is an astronomical reason for a year (one trip of the earth around the sun). There is an astronomical reason for a month (one trip of the moon around the earth). There is an astronomical reason for a day (one rotation of the earth on its axis). However, there is no astronomical reason for a week. Our week comes from the event of creation which our Sovereign God chose to perform in six days, followed by a day of rest. "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it." Exodus 20:11 What could be clearer than that? Why won't people believe Genesis as written? The answer is they take man's ideas to the Bible. They simply don’t want to believe Genesis as written. If they believe Genesis as written it then becomes necessary to obey the directions in the Bible.
God established and ordained the week as a model that is ideal and necessary for man, and we have maintained it ever since, despite some efforts of rulers to try to change the number of days from his prescribed seven. Of course, God did not require a day of rest in the sense that he was tired, because He is omnipotent, and never slumbers or sleeps.
Can you believe in six literal days of creation? There are no scientific reasons to prevent this belief. "God is not the author of confusion." (1 Corinthians 14:33) Remember the purpose of these Creation Science Messages is to strengthen your faith, and restore the authority of the word of God.
