At some time in the past I remember reading a few lines that became firmly fixed in my memory. Those lines were:

Great minds discuss ideas
Average minds discuss events
Small minds discuss people.

Let's pretend we have great minds and discuss the idea of truth. My daily conversation with Christian friends reveals to me that we all need frequent reminding of important fundamental ideas. The idea that I would like to review in this message is the idea of truth. Common sense tells us that truth can only come from a source of total knowledge. Any source other than total knowledge of all things past present and future might easily contain error. No one other than God can qualify as a source for truth. Therefore since the Bible was written under the direction of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is the only source for man to find truth. Isn't that simple and easy?

Let the word truth take on a new and expanded meaning in your thinking. Man alone without God is only capable of relative truth such as testimony in a court of law. Man can state things as he saw and remembers them but this is often found to contain error.

Jesus repeatedly said: "I tell you the truth." He is the only man that could ever make that statement. Isn't that astounding?

No matter how much you know there is more that you will never know so next to what God knows we know almost nothing at all. If that doesn't humble you, nothing will.

Jesus said: "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free". There are two ways to understand this statement. One way is that the Bible is literally accurate and means exactly what it says. The gospel then is true because the Bible is true. We are free from the condemnation of our sin because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. The other understanding would be reference to Christ who was speaking as the truth. "I am the way the truth and the life". Either understanding will arrive at the same place.

Biblical Christianity rests on a base of information that must be true. The truth is Christ really did create all things in six days. Adam really was created on day six from the dust of the ground in the image of his maker. Adam really did fall. Eve really was the mother of all living. Man really does need a Savior. The whole ball of wax depends upon truth at every level.

Evolution destroys the gospel. It cuts out the foundation. Evolution says there was no creation. Evolution says time space and matter have always existed. Evolution says man evolved through death. Christians, we had better defend the Bible or the ship will sink. It is time to get serious and man the pumps.

Remember the purpose of creation science is to get evolutionary thinking out of the church and restore the authority of the word of God.
