Can it be possible that most Christians have missed something that is incredibly basic and foundational to the gospel? Just consider for a moment the possibility that God has placed the first verse of scripture in its position because of the importance of the first verse. Just suppose it is necessary to comprehend the creation concept of time space and matter as a foundation for accepting the rest of the gospel.

In this first verse we are not told how he created time space and matter but simply that he created it. Elsewhere in scripture we are told he spoke by the word of his mouth as the means of creation. This is a supernatural idea that has never been seen by us. We cannot imagine it. This must be accepted by faith, which is total dependence upon God. Faith begins here.

In our natural state we are inclined to scoff at the idea of a Supernatural being creating (ex-nihilo) out of nothing. Truly such a concept is scientifically impossible. Our only other option however is the supernatural idea that time space and matter had no origin and are eternal and our mind cannot comprehend that either. It too is scientifically impossible.

When you see and accept your Creator as a real actual necessary reality your faith becomes genuine and not based on simply hoping the story is true. He that cometh to God must believe that he is. Creation defies the first law of thermodynamics and therefore is scientifically impossible. The evolutionary idea of eternal time space and matter with no beginning and no creator is also scientifically impossible.

If your mind can get over this first hurdle of creation (ex-nihilo) then you can accept the scientifically impossible virgin birth, the scientifically impossible resurrection, the scientifically impossible feeding of the five thousand, the scientifically impossible parting of the Red Sea etc. You can then accept that God is supernatural, and real. The foundation has been established. This should put you on your face before him. It may even make you interested in little else. You may even realize you are no longer what you were.

To preach the gospel and omit the first part of the story is another gospel. Creation (ex-nihilo) is foundational and of primary importance to the gospel. I believe it has to be God's greatest glory and for that reason he put it first in his word.

The Bible has to be an accurate true history of world events and true exactly as written. There are no scientific problems. The creation occurred in six literal days a limited number of generations ago. Noah's universal flood was a reality and explains the geology of the planet. To find the Bible story has to be true has been the most thrilling event of my life. I no longer hope Christ my Creator, Savior, and Redeemer is real. I know he is.
