Very large numbers of Christians since the time of Darwin have believed the propaganda that the theory of evolution is now proven scientific fact. Very large numbers of Christians continue to believe this theory today and try to mix it with scripture. Many of our most prominent Christian leaders are in this group. It seems these Christians do not wish to hear contrary evidence from scientists that are Bible believing Christians. These scientists that are Bible believers are guilty only of urging us to believe the clear simple story and history as written in the scriptures. I know when I first came to a total belief in the simple history and story as given in Genesis, I had to repent and ask forgiveness for my previous pride in taking human ideas to the scripture to interpret it.

Wouldn't an all - wise and loving God give us a Bible that simply meant what it said? Would He hide his intent of true meaning in obscure writing? What a terrible concept of God's wisdom and ability and love to think He would feed his sheep in such a confusing fashion that a theological expert with a fallen human mind might be necessary to tell us what the scripture says. If a child reads Genesis 1 the child finds no gap of millions of years or days representing long periods of time. Such concepts are simply not there. Christians have imagined they are there as a compromise to appease atheistic theories. The Holy Spirit will never bless this compromise, because it is not the truth.

Why do we Christians only try to put millions of years in Genesis1? Why don't we question Jonah's time in the whale? Maybe it was three thousand years. Why don't we question the time of marching around Jericho? Maybe the walls fell down during the seventh thousand year of marching. Maybe Christ didn't rise on the third day because a day means a week or a year or millions of years. If the Bible doesn't mean what it says then what does it mean? If we Christians won't defend Genesis 1 as given to us by the Holy Spirit, how can we expect a skeptic to accept Genesis 1? Why should he accept it if we won't accept it? If the Holy Spirit was guiding the writing of the scripture do you suppose the scripture could mean what it says? What blasphemy to imagine the scripture was written by an author of confusion!

If we can only accept parts of the Bible as truth, which parts do we accept? If the Bible is a mixture of truth and error, which parts are true and which parts error? "Except ye come as a little child"---what could that mean?

Do only misguided idiots like myself believe the Bible is true as written? No, thank heaven. Raymond V.
